OUR STEEL INDUSTRY STORY GOES MUCH FURTHER BACK THAN ME—TWO MORE GENERATIONS.

My grandfather spent the majority of his life learning the ins and outs of both the drawn wire and mechanical tube business. His years of service at Southeastern Metals Co. was integral in the founding of Tubular Products Company. From handling the intricate packaging issues drawn wire manufacturers face daily to producing better tube faster for customers, he organically grew TPC into the well-oiled machine that it was. 

My father and uncle both devoted their lives to Tubular Products here in Birmingham, Alabama—perpetually striving to make the customer happy through better products—it was a lifestyle and a beautiful culture. So naturally, I was molded and shaped to be a “tuber” from a very young age. I was fascinated with the craft and, as I grew, so did my passion for the work. I’d seen generations go before me, taking people’s problems and making things better with solutions that work. I never wanted to do anything else. 

Growing up as the son and grandson of tubers, I got to spend a lot of time around the plant. By the time I graduated college, I had paid my dues over the course of many summers, had gained experience in every department, and was well prepared for my formal career. I started out as the wire carrier and transactional tube salesman at Tubular Products. Then, in 2014, I was inspired to create WRAX Manufacturing—a company dedicated to the fabrication of the industry’s best wire carriers and wire packaging. I saw an opportunity to focus on one specific thing, and to do it really well, so the line “We make wire carriers, period.” became our one-sentence mission.

Over the years, I noticed some things inherent in our industry that I wanted to improve. Great manufacturers had lost sight of their customers—they were being taken for granted. So, Vulcan Tubeworx was born out of my desire to bring family-style attentiveness back to customers who have forgotten what it feels like to do business that way. I wanted to shake things up on the service side of steel.

Now, with Vulcan Tubeworx at the forefront and WRAX Manufacturing running alongside, our mission to provide the best service in the steel industry is impacting each client every day. I’m proud to lead a culture of highly-trained operators and problem solvers backed by high-amp service and a legacy of professional grade steel products. We spend countless hours running mechanical tube in all shapes and sizes, listening to our clients, and reacting with superior speed. Our goal is to help you, not just sell to you…to enable you to efficiently move product out the door. At the end of the day, we judge our value by the satisfaction of our customers.
